ARTS FESTIVAL, Bishop Auckland

Monday 8 February to Saturday 27 February

Welcome to febfest: Arts Festival Bishop Auckland

This year we have a programme packed with exciting events including two exhibitions, one displaying pieces created by our local schools and college in the Town Hall’s McGuinness Gallery, the other, that of professional North East artists in POD, a new gallery space for Bishop Auckland situated opposite the Town Hall. Both exhibitions will feature work developed in a response to the theme, The SOMME: Remembrance & Expression.

Workshops, and a lunchtime Concert, during the half-term school break are taking place in seven different venues across Bishop Auckland and must-see music and theatre performances and lectures have been booked for your enjoyment.

My appreciation and thanks go, as always, to all our partnering venues who are hosting the many events and workshops – this festival would not happen without their support.

It’s up to you now….  be a part of it and enjoy!

Warmest wishes, Jane Crawford FESTIVALDIRECTOR

 The SOMME, Remembrance & Expression

A new and exciting exhibition at POD, Market Place Bishop Auckland.

In this centenary year, a collective of North East artists have produced contemporary responses to the SOMME, a battlefield that continues to provoke images and thoughts in peoples’ consciousness 100 years on.

Artists have developed individual and personal interpretations, covering many disciplines, evoking the battle and its legacy.
