Project Description
Woodhouse Arts Programme
2005 – 2012
It is fact that the Arts are an established and effective method of tackling social issues in a safe environment. This programme was designed to offer the community of Woodhouse the opportunity to work with professionally trained artists. By engaging all ages of the community in activities, this programme helped to contribute to neighbourhood renewal and make a real difference to health, crime, employment and education.
The programme was instrumental in running an annual arts festival, producing a book, a documentary, films made with young people and many arts and craft activities, as well as mentoring young people and working with a number of apprentices.
Funded by Wear Valley District Council’s Neighbourhood Renewal, Neighbourhood Elements Fund and Safer Stronger Communities Fund.
